NEW MP3 CATCH UP
I am back from my vacation. I had a wonderful time for those of you that are wondering. I was a little disappointed no one yelled what's up. My girlfriend and I were bumping Sublime and Taking Back Sunday, and I mean bumping! I thought I would do a little MP3 catch up, enjoy. So, I have finally heard the new song from Dashboard Confessional. It's not too shabby. I can't wait to hear the rest of the album, hopefully some good singles will come out of it since this album is supposed to be like the greatest one ever according to Chris Carrabba. On a side note, it is fricken crazy how every Dashboard picture is only of Chris. I had a bit of a hard time finding a full band photo. Conceited much? Then again I guess I would be too if I could write lyrics like him. (MP3) Dashboard Confessional - Don't Wait Haha, what can I say about these guys. They're the nerdiest looking musicians I've ever seen and their current single is just so crazy! I heard it for the first time last week. I came home and played it non-stop and made my girlfriend love it too. It's catchy as hell and definitely one of the top singles of the year. Possibly another horribly addicting and already over played (by me alone) "Hey Ya" by Outkast. Great song, give it a listen. SUMMER TIME
Well, I am officially on vacation for the next week and a half. So you will not be hearing from me until then. My girlfriend and I are going to be hitting up the beach while cruising with the windows down bumping catchy rock music. So if you happen to see a young couple in a car singing really loud to pop punk or Sublime songs near the beach in So Cal, say what's up! Thought I would give you a song to cruise to that's perfect for summer. Enjoy. (MP3) Sublime - Doin' Time [Eerie Splendor Remix]

SPOTLIGHT: PANIC! AT THE DISCO
Panic! at the Disco is a dance-punk band from Las Vegas, Nevada, whose 2005 debut album 'A Fever You Can't Sweat Out' made the Billboard 200 album chart's album of the day, selling more than 500,000 copies to date. Their name was taken from a line in the Name Taken song, "Panic". In order to get their music heard, the band left comments through LiveJournal to Pete Wentz's (of Fall Out Boy), linking him to their PureVolume site. Wentz was so impressed that he drove to Las Vegas to meet them personally. Then he referred them to Fueled by Ramen Records, who signed them (while they were still in high school) to Wentz's imprint label Decaydance. On May 17, 2006, Panic! At the Disco made an official announcement via their website announcing the departure of their bassist Brent Wilson. Johnny Walker, the new bassist is a long-time friend of the band. Brendon Urie - Vocals, Guitar, Keyboard Ryan Ross - Guitar, Keyboard, Backing Vocals Spencer Smith - Drums Johnny Walker - Bass (MP3) Panic! HEAD AUTOMATICA GRADUATES
Head Automatic is out with a new video for their current single, "Graduation Day". I'm guessing it was chosen because it's so close to students graduating that they figured it would be a hit no matter what. It's not too shabby, pretty funny video. Nothing will ever top "Beating Heart Baby" though. They are releasing their new album 'Propoganda' on June 6th, but you can get a little taste of it by getting their EP 'Pop Rocks' over on iTunes. - Well, Sum 41 needs a new guitarist now that Dave Baksh has quit to join a metal band! Wait! Are they saying that Sum wasn't a metal band?! And I considered myself a metal head for liking them, psh.
- Before jumping on this summer's Van Warped tour -- and after a series of secret gigs across California -- A.F.I. is set to perform at radio station festivals later this month. A full-length U.S. tour is also expected this fall.
WHAT WENT WRONG W/ HOOBASTANK?!
Now when Hoobastank first came out, I thought they had a solid sound and would do okay in the music business. Then it all went down hill when they released out their second album. Sure, "The Reason" was a chart topper, but c'mon now. What happened to songs like "Crawling In the Dark"? Now, they're out again with their new album dropping tomorrow. But did you know? I sure didn't. I barely found out and that was because I happened to seen an ad. I listened to the single off the album and.. wow. It's horrible. Not even KROQ, my local radio station, are playing it. Take a listen for yourselves and make up your own mind. You can stream it off their MySpace and even download it there as well for free. SHE GOES SO STEADY
Ms. Megan Suggests: The Raconteurs are a new band made up of old friends, consisting of Jack Lawrence (bass), Patrick Keeler (drums), Brendan Benson (guitars, vocals, keys) and Jack White (guitars, vocals, keys). The seed was sewn in an attic in the middle of a hot summer when friends Jack White and Brendan Benson got together and wrote a song that truly inspired them. This song was "Steady, As She Goes" and the inspiration led to the creation of a full band with the addition of Lawrence and Keeler. While each of these four individuals have had successful careers with their own bands, the culmination of all of their talents is what truly makes The Raconteurs a force to be reckoned with. AVA ANNOUNCE NEW SINGLE
Angels and Airwaves announced their new single yesterday on Los Angeles' KROQ 106.7 morning show with Kevin and Bean. I live in LA so I was able to catch it. The band said that their record company could not make up their minds on the new single because every person that listens to the album has their own personal favorite. The company finally decided on "Do It For Me Now" and will begin filming the video for it today. If you didn't know, the band is also making an actual movie that will be in theatres. It's not about them, it's like a Star Wars type movie. It is an attempt to save rock and roll without having to sue kids or trying to find other ways around it that just aren't working. NEW AFI SINGLE
So AFI will soon be releasing a new album. It's follow up to their 2003 hit album 'Sing the Sorrow'. I bought that album and enjoyed most of it. It was sure different from their old stuff, so I'm sure this one will once again define different from the sounds of it so far. Their new single is "Miss Murder" and I must admit, it's not too bad. Billboard.com: Due June 6 via Interscope, "Decemberunderground" was again produced by Jerry Finn (Green Day, Blink 182), who also helmed "Sing the Sorrow." First single "Miss Murder" was written by Puget and Havoc while they were "sitting around bored" in the basement studio where they crafted most of the album's songs. The track soars 22-9 this week on Billboard's Modern Rock chart. (MP3) AFI - Miss Murder

ANGRY MOTHER AGAINST PETE WENTZ
Recently, there was a Fall Out Boy show in Charlotte, NC. A mother attended with her two kids. Pete Wentz (bassist) expressed the band's beliefs during the show, "Being in a public position with a spotlight, I think it is extremely important to use this pedestal to enlighten younger kids to certain things about the world." This conservative mother would not tolerate it. She e-mailed Island Records and had a lot to say, "The ticket said 'all ages,' and your band was very foul-mouthed and anti-morals. Charlotte is not the demoralized city that liberal San Francisco and other cities across the North and West are," the e-mail read. "I had looked forward to this concert with my girls for months [and] I didn't spend over $200 on gas, food and, unfortunately, shirts for you to give your own personal political testimony. ... This was a concert, not some liberal homosexual rally." In a post on FallOutBoyRock.com, Wentz wrote: "The only thing I said in Charlotte was, 'You can leave this show and say, "I think this guy is an arrogant jerk," or think, "This band is better than this one," because these are your opinions. The only thing we consider unacceptable is for you to engage in sexist, racist or homophobic behavior. If you do, we don't want you as a fan. Return our merch and leave.' " Angry mother, "I am not the only parent with morals that had children at this concert ... your responsibility was to sing your songs. When you opened your mouth to talk, you blew it," she wrote. "Here's to your band being just another Spice Girls, looking back and remembering the good times and 15 minutes of fame, because you [underestimated] who pays your bills. By the way, my children will not be a part of your sick idea of family." Pete Wentz, "I try my best to be the best person I can be. I want to be a good role model for younger kids. I don't smoke, drink or do drugs. I censor myself the best I can, but at the same time, I am not going to change in order to simply make myself more lucrative," he wrote. "I encourage fans of our band to grow up to become good people and to change the world. Unfortunately, I don't believe that treating other people as inhuman is acceptable. If that is offensive to you, I apologize, but we don't want you to be part of our fanbase. [Our show] is not a liberal homosexual rally, but at the same time, it will never be a Ku Klux Klan rally. We don't need to sell tickets that badly." [ Full article ] Now, I like some of Fall Out Boy's music. My girlfriend got me into them. But I find myself now being very fond of them even more so especially of Pete Wentz after seeing everything he said. Good to know they're out there spreading that message. As if people don't know that bands talk during shows and curse. That woman's bitching is just going to get her some stitches and a walker! It is the first single off their debut album 'The Same Old Blood Rush With A New Touch'. Their new album comes out on June 20, but is available for pre-order right here. One of the pre-order options includes a t-shirt and ringtone of the new single. They are a great up and coming band. I strongly urge you to pre-order their album. WAITING ON DASHBOARD
Dashboard Confessional is reported to having a new album come out this June. But with no signs of a single, it makes me wonder if it's going to come out later than that. They are currently on tour and are mixing some of their new songs into their set list. I figured while we wait for their new music, we can get pumped up by listening to past singles. The first song is one of their greatest singles in my opinion and the other single is from Chris Carabba's former side project from some years back.
